McCrory-CRC-meeting-8296

In October, Governor McCrory became the first sitting Governor in recent memory to attend the Coastal Resources Commission meeting. He heard from a range of experts on a number of coastal issues including insurance, nourishment, dredging and the economic impact of the coast. The Commission has committed to giving the Governor a top issues list in the coming months. Most importantly, the Governor heard loud and clear that a source of funding is needed for beach nourishment and inlet dredging.

In addition to the visit from McCrory in October, the CRC met in Beaufort in December and continued discussion on a number of issues, including “coastal wetlands,” local land use plans, and sea level rise. BASE will remain engaged on these coastal issues as they evolve.
