Governor Signs Stormwater Bill

This Saturday, August 9th, Governor Easley signed this legislation into law along with 15 other bills. This Rule will now go into effect on October 1st. In order to help you to understand how this Rule affects your ability to buy, sell, develop and build on land in the 20 coastal counties, BASE has scheduled the forum below for tomorrow (Tuesday, August 12th). NEW STORMWATER RULES EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1ST — ARE YOU PREPARED?DIVISION OF WATER QUALITY (DWQ) BRIEFING

This Session the General Assembly adopted new Coastal Stormwater Rules that will go into effect in the 20 coastal counties on October 1, 2008. There are some significant changes to the Phase II Rules currently in effect in Brunswick and New Hanover Counties that you need to be aware of if you will be doing any developing, building or sale of land in coastal NC after October 1st. Bradley Bennett, Supervisor Stormwater Permitting Unit, NC Division of Water Quality, Craig Bromby, BASE’s attorney with Hunton & Williams’s Raleigh office and Jim Spangler, Spangler Environmental, Inc., Cameron Moore, BASE Governmental Affairs Director will brief you on the new Rules and answer your questions next Tuesday, August 12th from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at the NHC Cooperative Extension Service (Arboretum), 6206 Oleander Drive, Wilmington.
