Donna Girardot also serves as the Executive Officer of the Wilmington-Cape Fear Home Builders Association, eastern North Carolina’s largest trade association representing 1,087 member-firms which employ approximately 9,500 individuals.
With a background in political science, she is uniquely qualified for the position as BASE’s CEO having legislative, lobbying, and campaign experience on the national, state and local levels. She has worked as Chief of Staff for a U.S. Senator, a State Representative and the Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia and has taught a class at UNCW in lobbying, PACs, and special interest groups.
Before moving to Wilmington, she served as an Executive Director of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, a five-city chamber serving Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and Suffolk, Virginia.
She has served or is presently serving on numerous national and state boards and committees with the North Carolina Home Builders Association; the NC DENR Business & Industry Environmental Roundtable; serves as a Board Member of the North Carolina Coastal Resources Law, Planning and Policy Center which was formed in 2004 by the UNC-CH School of Law and the NC Sea Grant Program; was appointed by the NC Division of Coastal Management to the 2008 Ocean Policy Steering Committee; the NC20 Board of Directors; and SC-NC Sea Grants’ Climate Extension Advisory Committee.

Mr. Moore comes to BASE with over 8 years of public and private planning experience working as the Planning Director for the Town of Leland, in Brunswick County and then most recently, serving as a senior project manager with a, multi-disciplinary residential and commercial development company in North Carolina.
Cameron completed his bachelor’s degree in Geography with a concentration in environmental planning at the University of North Carolina - Wilmington. Cameron is a member of the North Carolina Chapter of the American Planning Association, the American Planning Association, and is a certified planner through the American Institute of Certified Planners.
In his role with BASE Mr. Moore focuses on governmental affairs for Brunswick County as well as Pender County and all of the accompanying municipal jurisdictions. In addition Mr. Moore monitors all regional, state, and federal issues that are germane to BASE.

For five years prior to joining BASE, Mr. Newman was employed by the Home Builders Association of Georgia in Atlanta, most recently as Regulatory Affairs Director. At HBAG, Mr. Newman represented 39 local home builder associations and 13,000 member companies at the state government level at various boards and commission including the Georgia General Assembly, Public Service Commission, and the Georgia State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors.
A native of New Bern, he is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, In his role with BASE, Mr. Newman focuses on governmental affairs for the City of Wilmington and New Hanover County in addition to the regional, state and federal issues germane to BASE members.
