"Well worth the money! I’ve been working in this industry well over 20 years, and this is the lowest cost, highest value work I have ever seen. I always knew the regulatory pressures that our industry faced, but at least now I know that there is an organization fighting and winning on our behalf." - Kevin Hine, Duplin Land Development, LLC, Exec. The Wilmington-Cape Fear Home Builders Association (WCFHBA), in conjunction with the Business Alliance for a Sound Economy (BASE), will host the state's top water resource experts, and policy-makers to provide a regional, statewide, and local perspective of the important policy tools and regulatory strategies that will have an effect on our state's water resources in the years to come. The Coastal NC Water Resource conference will be held on March 23rd from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Holiday Inn Resort Wrightsville Beach.

Across North Carolina water resources have become a top priority. The drought in 2007 caused many to look more critically and to question issues surrounding this precious resource. Citizens, interest groups, businesses, local leaders, policy makers, and elected officials all recognize the importance and complexity of these questions and the ever-increasing demands that are being exacted on our states water resources.

“The Wilmington-Cape Fear Home Builders Association recognized the need to focus on this critical resource and the future decisions that will be made on water allocation and water use.  answer the questions of these key interest groups. So, the Association organized this conference to provide answers to some of those questions including what North Carolina is doing on the state level how NCDENR and its different agencies are working together, and how recent legislation will shape the state’s water resources in years to come,” said John Lancaster, President of the Wilmington-Cape Fear Home Builders Association.

The keynote address will be provided by Representative Carolyn Justice. The conference will also feature a full list of environmental experts, government officials and legislators from such organizations as NCDENR Division of Water Resources, the UNC School of Government, Brunswick County Utilities, Pender County Utilities, Cape Fear Public Utility Authority, Onslow County Water & Sewer Authority and others.

For individuals interested in attending the conference, the cost is $65 for early registration (before March 5th), and $85 for late registration. This seminar has been submitted for at least 6 Professional Development contact hours for the following disciplines: AICP CM; Professional Engineers; Professional Land Surveyors; and Continuing Legal Education.
