Brunswick Commissioners Approve Fee Deferral Policy PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 03 November 2009 12:18

Due to the persistence of (BASE) Business Alliance for a Sound Economy and the leadership from the Brunswick County Home Builders Association last night the Brunswick County Board of Commissioners approved an interim policy to provide for the deferral of the payment and collection of water and sewer capital recovery fees and transmission capital recovery fees.  Both sets of fees can now be paid prior to the issuance of a certificate of occupancy in lieu of requiring payment of the fees prior to the issuance of a building permit.

This policy will cover individuals, single-family residential,  multifamily residential and commercial construction that is served by the county's water and sewer system in jurisdictions where the county has building permitting and inspection authority.

BASE would like to note that this policy comes at a time when our industry is facing major obstacles with financing in this economic downturn.  The approval of this policy proves that the Brunswick County Commissioners are doing  their part to help stimulate the local Brunswick County economy.
