City of Wilmington TIA Reveiw Fee PDF Print E-mail

At their meeting on June 16, 2009 the Wilmington City Council added a review fee for traffic impact analyses to the FY 2009-2010 fee schedule. On July 1, 2009, city staff will begin collecting $250 for initial TIA submissions and a $125 re-submittal fee. Please note that the review fees only apply to projects located within the city’s corporate limits and that re-submittal fees apply when an increase in trip generation occurs due to a change initiated by the developer. Re-submittal fees will not apply if the change results in a lower trip generation rate.

Fees must be provided at the time of TIA submittal and should be accompanied by the attached application form that you may download below.

NC Bans Text Messaging PDF Print E-mail

 North Carolina’s Legislature has banned text messaging by all drivers.  The North Carolina anti-texting legislation was sent to Gov. Beverly Perdue and signed in to law on June 19th.  The new law takes effect Dec. 1st.  North Carolina will become the seventh state to pass a ban this year on texting while driving.  A national highway safety group says North Carolina becomes the 14th state in recent years to ban texting while driving in hopes of curbing driver distraction and accidents.  Fines for most drivers will be $100 in addition to court costs. No points or insurance increases will result from the infraction. School bus drivers, already singled out in a state cell phone ban, would be subject to texting misdemeanors with fines starting at $100.   North Carolina drivers over the age of 18 are permitted to use cell phones with or without a hands-free device.  If you would like more information on this new legislation just click here.click here.

Pender County Redistricting Plan Becomes Law PDF Print E-mail

The map below shows the current House Redistricting Plan as modified by House Bill 1621. That bill was ratified by the General Assembly on June 11, 2009, and became law as Session Law 2009-78. The bill amends the House Redistricting Plan only by changing districts 16 and 18 in Pender and New Hanover counties. The location of those two counties is indicated by the red box.
