Brunswick County Association of REALTORS partners with BASE for local government relations

SUPPLY, N.C. – The Brunswick County Association of REALTORS® (BCAR) has entered into a partnership with the Business Alliance for a Sound Economy (BASE) for local government affairs services, interim CEO Cynthia Cumbie announced today. BASE also provides local government affairs services to the Wilmington-Cape Fear Home Builders Association, Brunswick County Home Builders Association, Jacksonville Board of REALTORS® and Topsail Island Association of REALTORS®.

“Local advocacy is a key component of our association’s strategic plan, and this partnership with BASE will strengthen our ability to be a strong, active voice for real estate,” said Cumbie.

“BASE is excited to partner with the Brunswick County Association of REALTORS® and immediately provide established government affairs services,” said BASE CEO Cameron Moore. “With local advocacy being a key component of the association’s strategic plan, BASE is uniquely positioned to proactively monitor and advocate for BCAR on county and municipal issues in Brunswick, Columbus and Bladen Counties.”

Business Alliance for a Sound Economy (BASE) is coastal North Carolina’s voice for the commercial and residential building, development and real estate industry and represents numerous individual business members. BASE Governmental Affairs staff has an established presence with local governments and elected officials in Brunswick, Pender, Onslow and New Hanover Counties. At the local level, BASE proactively tracks and takes action on issues at county commissions, municipal councils and planning/zoning boards throughout southeastern North Carolina. Additionally, BASE serves as an advocate and resource on coastal issues such as homeowners insurance, beach nourishment and other issues unique to southeastern North Carolina. BASE also spends considerable time lobbying at the North Carolina General Assembly and with state agencies. BASE staff, which includes CEO Cameron Moore, Senior Governmental Affairs Director Tyler Newman and Regulatory Affairs Director Heather Jarman, has over 25 years of combined hands-on government affairs experience.
